The Whole Council Blueprint Design
The transformation of one county council and six district councils into one organisation is a task requiring a large amount of complex and diverse work.
The Joint Implementation Team – made up of around 150 officers from district councils and the county council - has worked towards a detailed blueprint of the new council. This is a working document that provides a framework and a vision of the future. The aim was to ensure that when the detailed planning stage is underway, it follows the principles of the original bid and ensure that we keep key stakeholder organisations informed and involved.
The document -“The Whole Council Blueprint Design” - is a summary of the larger blueprint broken down into a number of sections detailing some of the priorities and how things will be organised.
The summary is broken down into a number of sections focusing on the transformation from a system of six district councils and one county council into one brand new single unitary authority. It spells out:
- How we will approach the changes, as well as the vision and priorities of the new council.
- Cost, benefits and principles of customer focus
- How the new council will be structured into themed directorates of people, place and performance.
- Political arrangements and governance of the new council.
- Plans for localised service delivery according to the different needs of
communities.
